Summary

Welcome to my site. I've created it with the express purpose of educating the reader by providing a source of what has been deemed by past scholars to be a collection of some(not all) of the important speeches in history. I've based this list upon the work of William Jennings Bryan in his ten volume compilation of The World's Famous Orations which was originally published in 1906 by Funk and Wagnall’s Company. As such, it doesn't include any of the important speeches made in the 20th century and onwards. I intend to add as many of these as I can, with some restrictions due to copyrights. One of the most famous speeches of the 20th century, "I Have A Dream" by Martin Luther King Jr. is one of those protected by copyright and, until I can either receive permission from the King Estate or a law comes out that prohibits the copyrighting of speeches released to the public, I've left it out.

I also hope to include recent speeches in the archives from people today whose eloquence deserves note.

Underlying this whole project is the desire to inform the public upon certain key issues that the world faces today. For that purpose I have included important speeches of the past and present so that the reader can take the lessons that history has handed to us within this medium and apply them to modern life. I added the modern speeches so that readers can draw parallels between present society and the society of peoples in the past.

I hope you enjoy your reading, but most importantly I hope you leave this site a little better informed about your world.
